THIS GAME IS A PROTOTYPE FOR GMTK 2023 GAME JAM ROLES REVERSED. WE ARE COLLEGE STUDENTS WORKING FULL TIME AND THIS IS OUR FIRST TIME MAKING A GODOT PROJECT TOGETHER BUT WE HAD FUN AND LEARNED A LOT :D THE REAL GAME WAS THE FRIENDS WE MADE ALONG THE WAY. WHAT WE COMPLETED:

Over a century ago the ruler and king of the sea, a octopus monster named O'shiftwerdindfgi32ng↜bo∫pe♞rton♆, exiled the frogs from the seas. For the past 15 frog generations (they reproduce quickly), the frogs have been training to send Lorenzorius, Gifted by the Gods, to take down the king. Lorenzo traversed the deep sea and reached the kings castle but was ultimately brutally murdered with his companions by the immortal king. After these events, the king realized he deeply regretted his previous actions. He even went to therapy and realized himself that he had to travel to the surface to apologize to the frog people. As he traverses through he seas, his subordinates battle him as they don't like the frog people and don't understand their kings decision. The only one that seems to be on the side of the king is his therapist and his dear friend and goldfish Gorpyuljoawn.  

STORY SPOILERS SINCE WE COULDN'T FINISH THE GAME

At first, he traverses through the Deep and fight the Marlins and Stingrays guarding his sea castle and battle Swinger the chief of secuirty at his castle. Then he traverses through the Middles and battle his Angler armada and Jellyfish army followed by the Seabear trained to murder invaders into the Middles. Finally he reaches the shallows where he fights Swordfish and Eels watching the shores above. A mighty blob fish is the first barrier to entry into these lands. The shore is in sight for O'shiftwerdindfgi32ng↜bo∫pe♞rton♆ and a glub glub is heard in the open waters. The king turns around to be met by Gorpyuljoawn who is taking revenge for being kept in a fish bowl in the kings underwater castle. Over the course of the journey O'shiftwerdindfgi32ng↜bo∫pe♞rton♆ had to give up pieces of himself and his immortality as the seas gave him his powers. Now O'shiftwerdindfgi32ng↜bo∫pe♞rton♆  is smaller than his pet goldfish and weaker than he used to be. Upon outskilling Gorpyuljoawn, the king is able to reach the surface, and perished immedietly to a frog waiting for him. 

The Gameplay

The game was intended to be a reverse roguelike, where you start off very strong and overpowered and have to end up giving up pieces of your power as you progress, requiring you to grow stronger as a player. The levels were designed to have multiple rooms with a boss at the end where upon defeating them you would have to sacrifice abilities or powers.

We have more completed than what we included in the demo, we just wanted something that had a little of everything we worked on.
